New graduate students registered (Post on Sep. 2, 2005 22:58) 
Dong Hongshan, a bachelor of biotechnology from Henan University (2004) and
Xiao Xiang, newly graduated bioengineering bachelor from Henan University of
Technology (2005) registered in Zhejiang University as graduate students on
August 31, 2005. They both join the Sperm Laboratory and become new members
of this lab. They will work on the molecular mechanism of spermatogenesis,
especially the interaction between cytoskeleton and related proteins during
development of testes.

Yang traveled to Zhoushan Island (Post on July 31, 2005 17:05)
Dr. Wan-Xi Yang traveled to Zhujiajian, Zhoushan Island on July 23, 2005. He stayed there for 5 days, and guided 52 college students for their Zoological Beach Practice class together with other two teachers. The marine species of high economic value were investigated, and some species were chosen for experiment. 

Tiersch visited Zhejiang Ocean University and Zhoushan Island (Post on July 14, 2005 17:20)

Dr. Tiersch visited Zhejiang Ocean University and Zhoushan Island during July 10-July 11, 2005. He presented a seminar to professors and students of Zhejiang Ocean University on July 10, followed by visiting the Hatchery Base of this university. On July 10, 2005, he accepted an professorship offer from the Chancellor of Zhejiang Ocean University and became an adjunt professor of this unique ocean university in Zhejiang Province.

 Dr. Terrence R. Tiersch visited Zhejiang University and Qiandao Lake
Dr. Terrence R. Tiersch, a genetics professor from AgCenter, Louisiana State
University, visited the College of Life Sciences at Zhejiang University and Qiaodao
Lake during July 7 to July 9, 2005. The Tiersch Laboratory is famous for the
research on the improving genetics of aquatic species and cryopreservation of 
aquatic species sperm. The seminar which is titled "Germplasm and genetic resources
in fish and shellfish " was welcomed by professors and graduate students of Zhejiang
University. After the seminar, Dr. Tiersch went to Qiandao Lake to see the Cage
Culture Farm on July 9. Qiandao Lake is a reservoir which locates at Chunan County, Zhejiang Province, and is a very famous freshwater fishery for its pure water.
Thousands of tourists are attracted to Qiandao Lake all around the world every year.
During his 3-day's visit, Dr. Tiersch also discussed with Dr. Wan-Xi Yang about
the further collaboration with the Sperm Laboratory at Zhejiang University in the
future, mainly in the area of sperm cryopreveration and basic research on
spermatogenesis.
